English Typing Test & Practice
About · How to play · FAQ
Typing Derby is a typing game where your typing powers a voxel animal in a 100m sprint. Every correct key moves you forward. Race against two ghosts: a replay of the fastest typist of the last 7 days and the average of everyone who played today.
How to play
- Pick a typing language and a mode (1-min sprint or 3-min race).
- When the race starts, type the sentence on screen. Wrong keys don’t advance.
- The faster and more accurately you type, the faster your animal runs. The race ends when time is up or you cross 100m.
- Save your result with a nickname and country to join today’s and the 7-day leaderboards.

- What is a good typing speed?
- Around 40 WPM (about 200 keystrokes per minute) is often cited as the adult average in English; 60–80 WPM is fast. See the average typing speed guide for every language.
- How can I type faster?
- Learn touch typing: keep your fingers on the home row (ASDF JKL;), don’t look at the keyboard, and practise 10 minutes a day. Keep accuracy above 95% and speed will follow.
