Daily Derby — the Daily 1-Minute Typing Challenge

About · How to play · FAQ

The Daily Derby is a typing challenge with a new course every day at midnight Korea time. Everyone who picks the same language types exactly the same sentences. Only your first run of the day is official; after that it’s practice. Share your result as 🟩 (no typos) 🟨 (1–2) 🟥 (3+) per sentence.

      How to play

      1. Pick a typing language and a mode (1-min sprint or 3-min race).
      2. When the race starts, type the sentence on screen. Wrong keys don’t advance.
      3. The faster and more accurately you type, the faster your animal runs. The race ends when time is up or you cross 100m.
      4. Save your result with a nickname and country to join today’s and the 7-day leaderboards.

      FAQ

      How is typing speed measured?
In correct keystrokes per minute (KPM). For English and Spanish we also show WPM (keystrokes ÷ 5).
Do I need to switch my keyboard input method for English?
Match case and punctuation exactly. WPM (= keys ÷ 5) is shown too.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It’s free and needs no signup. Only your nickname and country are stored when you save a record.
      Who are the other runners?
Ghosts: 👑 a replay of the 7-day #1 run and 📊 the average of today’s runs.
What is a good typing speed?
Around 40 WPM (about 200 keystrokes per minute) is often cited as the adult average in English; 60–80 WPM is fast. See the average typing speed guide for every language.
      How can I type faster?
Learn touch typing: keep your fingers on the home row (ASDF JKL;), don’t look at the keyboard, and practise 10 minutes a day. Keep accuracy above 95% and speed will follow.
